Can A Lemon A Day Keep The Doctor Away?
Interestingly enough, a fresh lemon can provide you with more than just a bitter taste in your mouth. It turns out that lemons contain some of the rarest and most beneficial properties of any other fruit. Here are a few of the “powers” and health benefits of the lemon:
- Relieves heartburn, bloating and belching;
- Relieves constipation and diarrhea;
- Dissolvent of uric acid and other poisons;
- Assists in bone development during pregnancy;
- Includes potassium which nourishes brain and nerve cells;
- Includes calcium which builds up bony structures and healthy teeth;
- Treats asthma, colds, coughs, sore throat, flu, fevers, and joint pain;
- Treats biliousness (constipation, headache, loss of appetite and vomiting of bile);
- The liver can make more enzymes out of fresh lemon juice than any other food!
In order for you to realize these benefits from lemon juice, it must be in raw form. This is a result of it’s anionic (negatively charged) atomic structure. All other foods are considered to be cationic, including pasteurized and packaged lemon juice. Fresh lemon juice is an antiseptic, which means that it prevents the presence of pathogenic bacteria (a.k.a. sepsis) and the decomposition of tissue (a.k.a. putrefaction). It also helps prevent disease and assists in cleansing the body of impurities.
SO HOW DO YOU PICK A “POWERFUL” LEMON?
A “powerful” lemon is what I call a lemon that is high in mineral content. There are two easy techniques you can use:
–Is the lemon heavy for it’s size? You can do this buy holding the lemon and weighing it between other lemons of its size. The heavier lemon for it’s size, the better.
–How many points are on the calyx? The calyx is a series of lines (often in the shape of a star) coming out from where the stem would be. The more number of points on the “star,” the higher mineral content.
W/ CAYENNE PEPPER!
I recommend using lemon juice in conjunction with a few dashes of cayenne pepper, which also has amazing health benefits as I will discuss in another post. By squeezing half a lemon into a cup of hot water, with a few dashes of cayenne pepper — it not only makes a delicious drink, but if you have one of these little gems everyday you’re going to feel great and stay healthy! Cheers!
…May This Serve You Well.
